Eagles and Deer

Wildlife were abundant today in Kodiak and the eagle masses were waiting for fish. In the pic with the boat, you can see large numbers of these opportunistic birds hanging out. The two on the electrical pole reminded me of the two old guys on the Muppet Show that would argue. Click on the individual pics and they will enlarge for better viewing.

ABC's ~ Nicky style

He's fast with his signing and has his own little versions of the letters, but you get the point.

Nick "finning" and playing guitar with Jimmy Buffett and using his left CP side quite well.

Flat Stanley

Our niece, Kathryn, from Texas sent us a Flat Stanley this week for a visit. He was able to enjoy our 6+ inches of snow today and will fly to Louisiana on Thursday with us.

Daisy Girl Scout

Jessi is a Daisy this year and had her pinning last week. She's thrilled to finally be old enough to be a Girl Scout after so many years of seeing Emma have fun.

My little laundry help

Matt and I are home alone in the mornings and to keep him busy, I've started having him help with the laundry. He loves it!! He spent half a load with Michael's shoes on, but soon realized that was too difficult.

It is so COLD!

We're having a REAL ALASKAN winter this year with temps hovering around ZERO. Here is a picture of the drive from town and Barometer Mountain.

HAIR, HAIR, HAIR!!!

One night last week, Jessi was frustrated with not being able to brush her long hair and remove all of the knots, so I cut it...... at 8:30 PM......She can get ready for school fast now!
Emma had been growing out her hair and refused to have it trimmed or cut until the newest issue of American Girl magazine arrived with a girl on the cover who had the cutest layered cut. I thought we were going to have major tears when she saw how much had been cut off, but she was thrilled. We had a little attitude this morning when I couldn't get it to flip out as much as she wanted, but that's just Emma.

Geo Bee

Emma participated in the Geo Bee again this year and made it to Round 3. There was a misunderstanding by some of the students for the second question which was thrown out and she was side tracked in her concentration. The unused question's answer was "Louisiana" and she knew it. Her 3-4 grade teacher looked at me and snickered when the question was being read b/c it was a Louisiana question last year that she and Allen were 2 of 3 students that answered correctly.
