Ice Cream

The ice cream truck came by the house one night just as we were finishing dinner outside. Matt was beyond thrilled that this truck pulls up to HIS house and lets him pick what HE wants from pictures. We tried to explain that you need money to buy the ice cream, but not sure if he really cared. I know the next time he hears the ice cream truck music, he'll be out in the street flagging it down. Pretty cool, though, for a deaf kid!

Tayaux wanted to make sure Nick didn't waste any of his ice cream.
Matt had to be hosed down.

We agree!

Someone left this note on Michael's truck window while he was in Wal-Mart this morning:

Putting our life back together

After the flood waters receded and we tried to dry the house with fans and dehumidifiers, we took a baseboard off to see how much water was left. Unfortunately, too much.

We had everything from 2 foot down removed and replaced. Everything you see in white is new. Because we took mitigation measures after the Ike flood, we had less to replace. We added a few more prevention ideas this time to hopefully make the task even less daunting if we flood again: 6 inch baseboards to cover the 5 inch gap between the floor and drywall. Waters haven't come up to 5 inches, so maybe next time the drywall won't be affected.

Our only "fun" project during this renovation: shelves under the stairs.
